Song Of The Day: The Hardest Thing - Rubber Rodeo

Ah, another New Wave band from the North East that should have been way bigger. Rubber Rodeo put out 2 albums Scenic Views and Heartbreak Highway. They're best songs were fun New Wave + Country. Cow Punk in there case is Cow Wave. (thanks John C. Hughes!) Anyways, the remarkable The Hardest Thing was released as a 7" and 12" Single. I will post a full post on them pretty soon.

Forgotten From The 80s: Tears For Fears

Another Bath Band, Tears For Fears started in 1983, with debut The Hurting and hit big with Songs From The Big Chair. The Album ended up on everybody's door step in the year when Everybody Wanted To Rule the World (1985). The album is by far in the top 10 of the decade. The hits weren't hard to find. Shout, Head Over Heels, and Everybody Wants To Rule The World reached #1, #3, and #1, respectively. Mother's Talk reached #27 and I Believe did not chart Stateside but the re-recorded mix, reached #23 in the U.K. and #10 in Ireland. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ughqjbzx2Fk 01 Pharaohs (Single Version).mp3
(perhaps, the only version) was an excellent b-side to the smash hit, "Everybody Wants To Rule The World." Simple Minds hit "Waterfront" I Believe is the sample of it. Anyways genius re-work and vocal idea. Today I Died Again by Simple Minds is sampled in "Mother's Talk." 04 Mother's Talk (U.S. Remix).mp3

I Believe was re-recorded for single release. 03 I Believe (Re-Recorded).mp3

Shout has been remixed countless times but one of the best is 02 Shout (UK Remix).mp3
.
05 Broken_Head Over Heels_Broken (Live).mp3
is an excellent stringing together of Broken and Head Over Heels/Broken (Live.) The song "Listen" was also recorded live.

Song Of The Day: Lawnchairs - Our Daughter's Wedding

ah, Our Daughter's Wedding boy it must of been the 80s! Another lost band from the New York New Wave scene.
Lawnchairs has made it to a few 80s/new wave comps. but, it's a shame it's not an extremely popular 80s tune. Target for Life Auto Music and Elevate Her were all good and memorable as well. I'll get to those songs later someday.

Forgotten From The 80s: Culture Club

To start out, I just want to get this post out of the way. There music is actually pretty good now that I listen to it 2o some years later. You all remember seeing the videos for "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me" and "Karma Chameleon" but they had better stuff though, too. most people Remember "I'll Tumble 4 Ya" (03 I'll Tumble 4 Ya (U.S. 12_ Mix).mp3
) and maybe "Time" or "Miss Me Blind" as well as "Church Of The Poison Mind." The hits were nearly endless and ha ha the relationship between Boy George + Jon Moss seemed almost endless. They were originally called the Sex Gang Children. It's almost scary that they would call themselves the sex gang children. The group as the 80s ended the group split before the end of 1986. From Luxury To Heartache was there last album of the 80s. It featured the top 20 05 Move Away.mp3
They reformed in 1998.
There music is nowhere near the same as it was back then. They still put on live shows to lots of fanfare especially if it's Greatest Hits Live or something like that.
